ARCHITECTURE IS NOT THE BEGINNING OF A PLACE. AND IT ISN’T THE END OF ONE.
By the time an architect arrives, a place already has buildings, people, history, habits, materials and life.
RESITUATED begins with the place itself.
REVEAL WHAT’S THERE.
Every place has things that make it particular.
Some are obvious. Others take looking.
A building type repeated along a block. A material used for generations. The way people move between inside and outside. A view, an artifact, a pattern of use. The everyday things that have come to define a place without necessarily being designed to.
We look closely to understand what matters.
REINTERPRET THE FAMILIAR.
What we find becomes material.
Not by copying what is there, but by making new connections within it.
Between old and new. Inside and outside. A building and its block. A space and the way it is used.
A familiar material might take on a different role. An overlooked condition might organize a project. Something that has always been there might be seen differently.
This is where the familiar becomes something new.
REIMAGINE WHAT BELONGS.
What is already there can reveal possibilities for what comes next.
The result is architecture specific to its use and place: something that couldn’t be anywhere else.
